9,500 registered bed nights

In March 2019, 9,500 bed nights were recorded in Åland (-24.2 %), of which 4,200 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 5,300 nights by foreigners. Domestic bed nights decreased 34 percent and foreign bed nights decreased 14 percent. In total, bed nights decreased 24 percent from last year's March.

Most foreign bed nights were recorded for travelers from Sweden (4,600 nights).

7,500 nights (-28.8 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 2,100 nights (-0.7 %) by business visitors.

Between January and March, 11,700 bed nights (-12.9 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 10,900 (-13.7 %) for foreigners in Åland, in total 22,700 (-13.2 %) nights.

Market share 0.5 percent

Total of 1.9 million bed nights (-2.3 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 1.3 million nights (-2.6 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 566,000 nights (-1.4 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Åland out of total bed nights was 0.5 % (-0.1 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 0.3 % and foreign bed nights 0.9 %.

5,400 tourists arrived to accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation decreased 25 percent compared to earlier year. Of all arrivals, 44.1 percent were domestic, and 55.9 percent were from foreign countries.

During March, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Åland on average 1.8 nights (-0.04) and foreigners 1.8 nights (+0.06).
