Paid bed nights

Registered bed nights increased 13 percent

In January 2018, 6,300 registered bed nights were recorded in Åland (+13.2 %), of which 3,000 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 3,300 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights increased nine percent and registered foreign bed nights increased 17 percent. In total, registered bed nights increased 13 percent from last year's January.

3,900 nights (+7.4 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 2,300 nights (+24.6 %) by business visitors.

Total of 1.5 million registered bed nights (+3.5 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 856,000 nights (+0.8 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 671,000 nights (+7.2 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Åland out of total registered bed nights was 0.4 % (0.0 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 0.3 % and foreign bed nights 0.5 %.

Length of stay was 1.7 nights in registered accommodation

Length of stay in registered accommodation decreased five percent compared to earlier year. In Åland, length of stay in January was on average 1.7 nights and in Finland 2.0 nights (-0.3 %).

During January, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Åland on average 1.6 nights and foreigners 1.8 nights .

3,700 tourists arrived to registered accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation increased 19 percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 50.2 percent were domestic, and 49.8 percent were from foreign countries.

During January, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Åland on average 1.6 nights (-0.12) and foreigners 1.8 nights (-0.05).
