1,400 registered bed nights

In March 2020, 1,400 registered bed nights were recorded in Åland (-85.6 %), of which 1,100 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 300 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights decreased 74 percent and registered foreign bed nights decreased 94 percent. In total, registered bed nights decreased 86 percent from last year's March.

1,100 nights (-85.2 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 260 nights (-87.1 %) by business visitors.

Between January and March, 7,600 registered bed nights (-35.3 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 6,900 (-37.2 %) for foreigners in Åland, in total 14,500 (-36.2 %) registered nights.

Market share 0.1 percent

Total of 996,000 registered bed nights (-46.6 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 730,000 nights (-43.7 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 265,000 nights (-53.2 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Åland out of total registered bed nights was 0.1 % (-0.4 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 0.1 % and foreign bed nights 0.1 %.

Length of stay increased nine percent in registered accommodation

Length of stay in registered accommodation increased nine percent compared to earlier year. In Åland, length of stay in March was on average 1.9 nights and in Finland 2.3 nights (+14.6 %).

During March, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Åland on average 1.7 nights (-6.2 %) and foreigners 4.5 nights (-1.4 %).

710 tourists arrived to registered accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation decreased 87 percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 90.4 percent were domestic, and 9.6 percent were from foreign countries.

During March, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Åland on average 1.7 nights (-0.1) and foreigners 4.5 nights (+2.7).
