Registered bed nights increased 14 percent

In August 2022, 160,000 registered bed nights were recorded in Ålesund And Sunnmør (+14.0 %), of which 81,600 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 78,100 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights decreased 18 percent and registered foreign bed nights increased 92 percent. In total, registered bed nights increased 14 percent from last year's August.

Most foreign registered bed nights were recorded for travelers from Germany (24,800 nights).

66,300 nights (+29.0 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 20,200 nights (+11.5 %) by business visitors.

Between January and August, 437,000 registered bed nights (-10.6 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 269,000 (+170.9 %) for foreigners in Ålesund And Sunnmør, in total 706,000 (+20.1 %) registered nights.

Market share 3.1 percent

Total of 5.2 million registered bed nights (+18.4 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 3.2 million nights (-8.0 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 1.9 million nights (+129.4 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Ålesund And Sunnmør out of total registered bed nights was 3.1 % (-0.1 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 2.5 % and foreign bed nights 4.1 %.

89,200 tourists arrived to registered accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation increased 21 percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 47.5 percent were domestic, and 52.5 percent were from foreign countries.

During August, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Ålesund And Sunnmør on average 1.9 nights (-0.02) and foreigners 1.7 nights (-0.12).
