Paid bed nights

53,800 registered bed nights

In September 2020, 53,800 registered bed nights were recorded in Ålesund And Sunnmør (-27.9 %), of which 48,200 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 5,600 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights increased three percent and registered foreign bed nights decreased 80 percent. In total, registered bed nights decreased 28 percent from last year's September.

17,400 nights (-44.9 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 17,000 nights (-25.1 %) by business visitors.

Between January and September, 521,000 registered bed nights (+13.0 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 76,500 (-79.2 %) for foreigners in Ålesund And Sunnmør, in total 597,000 (-27.9 %) registered nights.

Total of 1.8 million registered bed nights (-34.4 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 1.6 million nights (-19.6 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 205,000 nights (-73.3 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Ålesund And Sunnmør out of total registered bed nights was 2.9 % (+0.3 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 3.0 % and foreign bed nights 2.7 %.

Length of stay increased 39 percent in registered accommodation

Length of stay in registered accommodation increased 39 percent compared to earlier year. In Ålesund And Sunnmør, length of stay in September was on average 2.3 nights and in Norway 2.1 nights (+17.4 %).

During September, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Ålesund And Sunnmør on average 2.3 nights (-0.7 %) and foreigners 2.9 nights (+46.6 %).

23,100 tourists arrived to registered accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation decreased 48 percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 91.7 percent were domestic, and 8.3 percent were from foreign countries.

During September, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Ålesund And Sunnmør on average 2.3 nights (+0.56) and foreigners 2.9 nights (+1.3).
