Åre: Tourism in a nutshell
Registered accommodation. All changes are relative to the same period a year ago.
Registered bed nights increased 43 percent
In December 2021, 44,600 registered bed nights were recorded in Åre (+43.0 %), of which 40,200 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 4,400 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights increased 36 percent and registered foreign bed nights increased 163 percent. In total, registered bed nights increased 43 percent from last year's December.
15,500 rooms (+51.9 %) were booked by leisure visitors and 1,700 rooms (+52.1 %) by business visitors.
Between January and December, 509,000 registered bed nights (+31.9 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 32,400 (-27.3 %) for foreigners in Åre, in total 541,000 (+25.8 %) registered nights.
Registered bed nights statistics include stats for registered accommodations: hotels, holiday villages, youth hostels, campsites, and commercially arranged rentals in private cottages and apartments. Establishments with fewer than 9 beds or 5 rooms are excluded.

13,700 tourists arrived to registered accommodation
Arrivals to registered accommodation increased 56 percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 90.0 percent were domestic, and 10.0 percent were from foreign countries.
During December, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Åre on average 3.3 nights (-0.26) and foreigners 3.2 nights (-1.3).

16,900 air travelers
The airport received a total of 16,900 passengers, which means air passenger arrivals increased 195 percent.
Of local passengers, 2.2 % arrived from abroad, thus the share of domestic passengers was 97.8 %.
In addition, there were 17,900 passengers departing the airport (+172.7 %), therefore the total number of trips via the airport was 15,600 (+222.9 %).

Registered accommodation sales in December were 29.2 million SEK (+11.4 million).
Registered January-December sales were 246.5 million SEK and they increased 43.7 million euro from the previous year.
