Åre: Tourism in a nutshell
Registered accommodation. All changes are relative to the same period a year ago.
Registered bed nights increased 35 percent
In May 2022, 18,600 registered bed nights were recorded in Åre (+34.9 %), of which 15,600 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 3,100 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights increased 19 percent and registered foreign bed nights increased 320 percent. In total, registered bed nights increased 35 percent from last year's May.
5,600 rooms (+82.9 %) were booked by leisure visitors and 1,400 rooms (+48.0 %) by business visitors.
Between January and May, 243,000 registered bed nights (+7.9 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 36,300 (+488.2 %) for foreigners in Åre, in total 279,000 (+20.8 %) registered nights.
Registered bed nights statistics include stats for registered accommodations: hotels, holiday villages, youth hostels and campsites. Establishments with fewer than 9 beds or 5 rooms are excluded.

8,300 tourists arrived to registered accommodation
Arrivals to registered accommodation increased 62 percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 78.7 percent were domestic, and 21.3 percent were from foreign countries.
During May, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Åre on average 2.4 nights (-0.45) and foreigners 1.7 nights (+0.35).

9,700 air travelers
The airport received a total of 9,700 passengers, which means air passenger arrivals increased 290 percent.
Of local passengers, 1.6 % arrived from abroad, thus the share of domestic passengers was 98.4 %.
In addition, there were 10,300 passengers departing the airport (+276.9 %), therefore the total number of trips via the airport was 20,000 (+282.8 %).
