Åre: Tourism in a nutshell
Registered bed nights increased 15 percent
In September 2019, 36,200 bed nights were recorded in Åre (+15.1 %), of which 31,300 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 4,900 nights by foreigners. Domestic bed nights increased 16 percent and foreign bed nights increased 10 percent. In total, bed nights increased 15 percent from last year's September.
Most foreign bed nights were recorded for travelers from Norway (3,200 nights).
11,200 rooms (+48.7 %) were booked by leisure visitors and 5,400 rooms (+75.1 %) by business visitors.
Between January and September, 448,000 bed nights (+6.9 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 97,800 (-8.0 %) for foreigners in Åre, in total 546,000 (+3.9 %) nights.
Registered bed nights statistics include stats for registered accommodations: hotels, holiday villages, youth hostels, campsites, and commercially arranged rentals in private cottages and apartments. Establishments with fewer than 9 beds or 5 rooms are excluded.

Arrivals to registered accommodation increased 15 percent compared to earlier year. Of all arrivals, 86.6 percent were domestic, and 13.4 percent were from foreign countries.
During September, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Åre on average 2.0 nights (-0.01) and foreigners 2.0 nights (+0.07).

The airport received a total of 20,700 passengers, which means air passenger arrivals decreased one percent.
Of local passengers, 5.8 % arrived from abroad, thus the share of domestic passengers was 94.2 %.
In addition, there were 21,400 passengers departing the airport (+0.3 %), therefore the total number of trips via the airport was 42,100 (-0.3 %).
