76,000 registered bed nights

In February 2020, 76,000 registered bed nights were recorded in Åre (-15.7 %), of which 63,200 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 12,800 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights decreased 13 percent and registered foreign bed nights decreased 26 percent. In total, registered bed nights decreased 16 percent from last year's February.

24,500 rooms (-14.5 %) were booked by leisure visitors and 5,900 rooms (-8.1 %) by business visitors.

Between January and February, 105,000 registered bed nights (-14.5 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 24,400 (-18.8 %) for foreigners in Åre, in total 130,000 (-15.4 %) registered nights.

Total of 4.4 million registered bed nights (+3.4 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 3.5 million nights (+5.0 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 935,000 nights (-2.0 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Åre out of total registered bed nights was 1.7 % (-0.4 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 1.8 % and foreign bed nights 1.4 %.

Length of stay was 3.4 nights in registered accommodation

Length of stay in registered accommodation decreased 22 percent compared to earlier year. In Åre, length of stay in February was on average 3.4 nights and in Sweden 2.4 nights (-3.1 %).

During February, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Åre on average 3.6 nights (-10.9 %) and foreigners 2.7 nights (-15.7 %).

22,500 tourists arrived to registered accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation increased eight percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 79.1 percent were domestic, and 20.9 percent were from foreign countries.

During February, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Åre on average 3.6 nights (-0.92) and foreigners 2.7 nights (-1.2).

The airport received a total of 21,600 passengers, which means air passenger arrivals decreased 19 percent.

Of local passengers, 9.0 % arrived from abroad, thus the share of domestic passengers was 91.0 %.

In addition, there were 22,000 passengers departing the airport (-16.9 %), therefore the total number of trips via the airport was 43,500 (-17.8 %).
