Paid bed nights

18,500 registered bed nights

In May 2020, 18,500 registered bed nights were recorded in Arendal And Grimstad (-24.6 %), of which 17,900 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 610 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights decreased 21 percent and registered foreign bed nights decreased 69 percent. In total, registered bed nights decreased 25 percent from last year's May.

2,700 nights (-30.0 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 1,900 nights (-69.1 %) by business visitors.

Between January and May, 33,200 registered bed nights (-35.9 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 3,000 (-48.2 %) for foreigners in Arendal And Grimstad, in total 36,200 (-37.1 %) registered nights.

Total of 1.0 million registered bed nights (-62.3 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 959,000 nights (-51.5 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 70,600 nights (-90.6 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Arendal And Grimstad out of total registered bed nights was 1.8 % (+0.9 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 1.9 % and foreign bed nights 0.9 %.

Length of stay increased 23 percent in registered accommodation

Length of stay in registered accommodation increased 23 percent compared to earlier year. In Arendal And Grimstad, length of stay in May was on average 3.0 nights and in Norway 2.7 nights (+46.1 %).

During May, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Arendal And Grimstad on average 3.0 nights (+10.2 %) and foreigners 3.1 nights (+1.8 %).

6,200 tourists arrived to registered accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation decreased 39 percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 96.9 percent were domestic, and 3.1 percent were from foreign countries.

During May, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Arendal And Grimstad on average 3.0 nights (+0.51) and foreigners 3.1 nights (+1.2).
