Central Finland: Tourism in a nutshell
Registered accommodation. All changes are relative to the same period a year ago.
50,800 registered bed nights
In December 2020, 50,800 registered bed nights were recorded in Central Finland (-24.9 %), of which 49,400 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 1,300 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights decreased 18 percent and registered foreign bed nights decreased 82 percent. In total, registered bed nights decreased 25 percent from last year's December.
37,600 nights (-21.7 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 13,100 nights (-33.0 %) by business visitors.
Between January and December, 692,000 registered bed nights (-25.1 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 47,500 (-63.1 %) for foreigners in Central Finland, in total 739,000 (-29.7 %) registered nights.
Registered bed nights statistics include stats for registered accommodations: hotels, motels, guest houses, hostels, holiday villages and campsites. Establishments with fewer than 20 beds or caravan lots with an electrical connection point are excluded.

22,000 tourists arrived to registered accommodation
Arrivals to registered accommodation decreased 40 percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 98.1 percent were domestic, and 1.9 percent were from foreign countries.
During December, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Central Finland on average 2.3 nights (+0.51) and foreigners 3.1 nights (+0.85).

Foreign visitors and their consumption
The number of foreign visitors in December was 1,100 (-87.2 %). Out of them 97 were on a daytrip and 1,000 stayed at least for one night.
The cumulative number of foreign visitors between January and December was 47,700 (-72.7 %).
Total consumption of these visitors in Central Finland in December was 214,000 euro (195 per visitor). Overnight visitors spent 205,000 euro and day visitors 9,300 euro. Between January and December the consumption was 9.1 million euro.

Accommodation sales 2.1 million euro
Registered accommodation sales in December were 2.1 million euro (-1.1 million).
Registered January-December sales were 33.5 million euro and they decreased 20.6 million euro from the previous year.
