6,000 registered bed nights (August)
In August 2021, 6,000 registered bed nights were recorded in Central Karelia (-11.6 %), of which 5,500 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 500 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights decreased 12 percent and registered foreign bed nights decreased three percent. In total, registered bed nights decreased 12 percent from last year's August.
5,600 nights (-10.6 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 370 nights (-24.0 %) by business visitors.
Between January and August, 26,600 registered bed nights (-10.1 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 830 (-68.9 %) for foreigners in Central Karelia, in total 27,400 (-15.0 %) registered nights.
Registered bed nights statistics include stats for registered accommodations: hotels, motels, guest houses, hostels, holiday villages and campsites. Establishments with fewer than 20 beds or caravan lots with an electrical connection point are excluded.

2,100 tourists arrived to registered accommodation (August)
Arrivals to registered accommodation decreased 16 percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 94.8 percent were domestic, and 5.2 percent were from foreign countries.
During August, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Central Karelia on average 2.7 nights (+0.13) and foreigners 4.5 nights (+0.08).

Trips by Russian travelers over the eastern border increased 40 percent
A total of 33,400 Russians arrived in Finland over the eastern border crossings.
