1,400 registered bed nights (May)

In May 2021, 1,400 registered bed nights were recorded in Central Karelia, of which 1,400 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 33 nights by foreigners.

Most foreign registered bed nights were recorded for travelers from Austria (19 nights).

1,100 nights were spend by leisure visitors and 310 nights by business visitors.

Between January and May, 3,400 registered bed nights (+0.5 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 59 (-96.1 %) for foreigners in Central Karelia, in total 3,500 (-28.8 %) registered nights.

Total of 850,000 registered bed nights (+183.7 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 779,000 nights (+177.9 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 71,600 nights (+266.2 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Central Karelia out of total registered bed nights was 0.2 %, out of domestic bed nights 0.2 % and foreign bed nights 0.0 %.

Of all registered arrivals, 93.7 percent were domestic, and 6.3 percent were from foreign countries.

During May, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Central Karelia on average 2.8 nights and foreigners 1.0 nights.

Trips by Russian travelers over the eastern border increased 43 percent

A total of 29,000 Russians arrived in Finland over the eastern border crossings.

The share of southeastern border stations was 69.4 percent.

There was a total of 2,800 visa applications to Finland made by the Russians. 55.1 percent were done at St. Petersburg's consulate.
