Registered bed nights increased 17 percent

In August 2019, 18,500 bed nights were recorded in Central Ostrobothnia (+17.0 %), of which 13,700 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 4,800 nights by foreigners. Domestic bed nights decreased five percent and foreign bed nights increased 260 percent. In total, bed nights increased 17 percent from last year's August.

Most foreign bed nights were recorded for travelers from Thailand (2,900 nights).

10,200 nights (+6.2 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 8,300 nights (+33.7 %) by business visitors.

Between January and August, 88,800 bed nights (-6.4 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 15,600 (+55.4 %) for foreigners in Central Ostrobothnia, in total 104,000 (-0.5 %) nights.

Market share 0.8 percent

Total of 2.4 million bed nights (+3.9 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 1.6 million nights (+3.7 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 786,000 nights (+4.1 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Central Ostrobothnia out of total bed nights was 0.8 % (+0.1 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 0.8 % and foreign bed nights 0.6 %.

8,800 tourists arrived to accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation decreased 10 percent compared to earlier year. Of all arrivals, 92.5 percent were domestic, and 7.5 percent were from foreign countries.

During August, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Central Ostrobothnia on average 1.7 nights (+0.11) and foreigners 7.4 nights (+5.0).

Registered accommodation sales in August were 802,000 euro (-6,900).

Registered January-August sales were 5.7 million euro and they increased 8,600 euro from the previous year.
