Paid bed nights

6,300 registered bed nights

In December 2019, 6,300 registered bed nights were recorded in Central Ostrobothnia (-5.3 %), of which 5,400 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 870 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights decreased five percent and registered foreign bed nights decreased four percent. In total, registered bed nights decreased five percent from last year's December.

2,400 nights (-24.5 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 3,900 nights (+12.4 %) by business visitors.

Between January and December, 122,000 registered bed nights (-6.1 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 24,000 (+57.7 %) for foreigners in Central Ostrobothnia, in total 146,000 (+0.6 %) registered nights.

Total of 1.8 million registered bed nights (+1.2 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 988,000 nights (+2.2 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 789,000 nights (-0.0 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Central Ostrobothnia out of total registered bed nights was 0.4 % (-0.0 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 0.5 % and foreign bed nights 0.1 %.

Length of stay increased seven percent in registered accommodation

Length of stay in registered accommodation increased seven percent compared to earlier year. In Central Ostrobothnia, length of stay in December was on average 1.9 nights and in Finland 2.0 nights (+1.9 %).

During December, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Central Ostrobothnia on average 1.8 nights (+3.3 %) and foreigners 3.7 nights (+42.3 %).

3,300 tourists arrived to registered accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation decreased 12 percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 92.9 percent were domestic, and 7.1 percent were from foreign countries.

During December, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Central Ostrobothnia on average 1.8 nights (+0.16) and foreigners 3.7 nights (-1.1).
