7,600 registered bed nights (April)

In April 2023, 7,600 registered bed nights were recorded in Kotka-Hamina Region (-5.4 %), of which 6,800 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 870 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights increased one percent and registered foreign bed nights decreased 38 percent. In total, registered bed nights decreased five percent from last year's April.

Most foreign registered bed nights were recorded for travelers from Germany (154 nights).

3,900 nights (-1.0 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 3,700 nights (-9.7 %) by business visitors.

Between January and April, 24,700 registered bed nights (+22.2 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 4,000 (+20.8 %) for foreigners in Kotka-Hamina Region, in total 28,700 (+22.0 %) registered nights.

Total of 1.5 million registered bed nights (-3.9 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 1.3 million nights (-7.7 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 261,000 nights (+20.1 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Kotka-Hamina Region out of total registered bed nights was 0.5 % (-0.0 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 0.5 % and foreign bed nights 0.3 %.

Arrivals to registered accommodation decreased five percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 90.9 percent were domestic, and 9.1 percent were from foreign countries.

Trips by Russian travelers over the eastern border increased 10 percent (April)

A total of 34,400 Russians arrived in Finland over the eastern border crossings.

The share of southeastern border stations was 82.1 percent.

Domestic visitors and their consumption (December 2022)

The number of domestic visitors in December was 45,400 (+14.4 %). Out of them 34,500 were on a daytrip and 10,900 stayed at least for one night.

The cumulative number of domestic visitors between January and December was 741,000 (-5.4 %).

Total consumption of these visitors in Kotka-Hamina Region in December was 2.5 million euro (54 per visitor). Overnight visitors spent 1.1 million euro and day visitors 1.4 million euro. Between January and December the consumption was 41.8 million euro.

Accommodation sales 682,000 euro (April)

Total accommodation sales in April were 682,000 euro (-90,900). The share of Airbnb and Vrbo was 17.3 percent. Therefore, registered accommodation sales were 563,000 euro (-89,100) and non-registered sales 118,000 euro (-1,800).
