Registered bed nights increased 53 percent (March)
In March 2022, 12,700 registered bed nights were recorded in Kymenlaakso (+52.8 %), of which 11,200 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 1,400 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights increased 51 percent and registered foreign bed nights increased 70 percent. In total, registered bed nights increased 53 percent from last year's March.
6,000 nights (+75.1 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 6,700 nights (+37.3 %) by business visitors.
Between January and March, 28,000 registered bed nights (+27.5 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 3,000 (+3.6 %) for foreigners in Kymenlaakso, in total 31,000 (+24.7 %) registered nights.
Registered bed nights statistics include stats for registered accommodations: hotels, motels, guest houses, hostels, holiday villages and campsites. Establishments with fewer than 20 beds or caravan lots with an electrical connection point are excluded.

8,400 tourists arrived to registered accommodation (March)
Arrivals to registered accommodation increased 88 percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 91.3 percent were domestic, and 8.7 percent were from foreign countries.
During March, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Kymenlaakso on average 1.5 nights (-0.26) and foreigners 2.0 nights (-2.9).

Trips by Russian travelers over the eastern border increased 19 percent
A total of 31,300 Russians arrived in Finland over the eastern border crossings.
The share of southeastern border stations was 75.5 percent.

Russian visa applications increased 800 percent (February)
There was a total of 7,500 visa applications to Finland made by the Russians. 82.4 percent were done at St. Petersburg's consulate.
Foreign visitors and their consumption (March)
The number of foreign visitors in March was 11,500 (+321.1 %). Out of them 8,700 were on a daytrip and 2,800 stayed at least for one night.
The cumulative number of foreign visitors between January and March was 20,500 (+76.0 %).
Total consumption of these visitors in Kymenlaakso in March was 1.6 million euro (139 per visitor). Overnight visitors spent 473,000 euro and day visitors 1.1 million euro. Between January and March the consumption was 2.8 million euro.

Registered accommodation sales in March were 886,000 euro (+304,000).
Registered January-March sales were 2.2 million euro and they increased 359,000 euro from the previous year.
