Registered bed nights increased five percent (October)

In October 2021, 53,800 registered bed nights were recorded in Oulu (+4.7 %), of which 50,500 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 3,400 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights increased 17 percent and registered foreign bed nights decreased 59 percent. In total, registered bed nights increased five percent from last year's October.

Most foreign registered bed nights were recorded for travelers from Sweden (530 nights).

30,300 nights (+41.1 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 23,500 nights (-21.4 %) by business visitors.

Between January and October, 425,000 registered bed nights (+21.8 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 27,800 (-54.0 %) for foreigners in Oulu, in total 453,000 (+10.7 %) registered nights.

Market share 3.3 percent (October)

Total of 1.7 million registered bed nights (+47.2 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 1.5 million nights (+39.3 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 200,000 nights (+149.5 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Oulu out of total registered bed nights was 3.3 % (-1.3 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 3.5 % and foreign bed nights 1.7 %.

Arrivals to registered accommodation increased 41 percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 95.2 percent were domestic, and 4.8 percent were from foreign countries.

During October, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Oulu on average 1.6 nights (-0.29) and foreigners 2.1 nights (-9.4).

22,600 air travelers (October)

The airport received a total of 22,600 passengers, which means air passenger arrivals increased 156 percent.

Of local passengers, 6.2 % arrived from abroad, thus the share of domestic passengers was 93.8 %.

In addition, there were 23,900 passengers departing the airport (+166.2 %), therefore the total number of trips via the airport was 46,500 (+161.0 %).

Accommodation sales 3.5 million euro (October)

Total accommodation sales in October were 3.5 million euro (+485,000). The share of Airbnb and Vrbo was 8.5 percent. Therefore, registered accommodation sales were 3.2 million euro (+480,000) and non-registered sales 299,000 euro (+5,800).

Total January-October sales were 27.3 million euro and they increased 3.2 million euro from the previous year.
