17,100 bed nights in paid accommodation (February)

Total of 17,100 bed nights (+14.2 %) were recorded in paid accommodation in Pori in February 2024. This figure includes bed nights at registered establishments as well as at AirBnB and Vrbo. The share of registered bed nights was 77 % and non-registered 23 %.

Between January and February, the number of paid bed nights was 32,000 (+12.7 %). Share of registered was 77 % and non-registered 23 %.

Registered bed nights statistics include stats for registered accommodations: hotels, motels, guest houses, hostels, holiday villages and campsites. Establishments with fewer than 20 beds or caravan lots with an electrical connection point are excluded. Non-registered bed nights statistics include bed nights from AirBnB and Vrbo.

Forecast of bed nights in paid accommodation

In April 2024, the number of bed nights in paid accommodation is expected to increase by 15.5 % compared to the previous year in Pori.

The number of bed nights is expected to increase by 17.4 % in the next six months compared to the previous year.

The forecast is based on a time series model (SARIMA), which is supplemented with exogenous (external) explanatory variables.

Registered bed nights increased eight percent (February)

In February 2024, 13,100 registered bed nights were recorded in Pori (+8.3 %), of which 10,300 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 2,800 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights increased four percent and registered foreign bed nights increased 28 percent. In total, registered bed nights increased eight percent from last year's February.

6,700 nights (+10.0 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 6,300 nights (+6.5 %) by business visitors.

Between January and February, 19,400 registered bed nights (+5.4 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 5,300 (+39.6 %) for foreigners in Pori, in total 24,700 (+11.3 %) registered nights.

Total of 1.9 million registered bed nights (+5.2 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 1.2 million nights (+1.4 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 634,000 nights (+13.4 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Pori out of total registered bed nights was 0.7 % (0.0 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 0.8 % and foreign bed nights 0.4 %.

Length of stay increased seven percent in registered accommodation (February)

Length of stay in registered accommodation increased seven percent compared to earlier year. In Pori, length of stay in February was on average 1.8 nights and in Finland 2.0 nights (-1.9 %).

During February, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Pori on average 1.6 nights (+3.8 %) and foreigners 5.5 nights (+11.8 %).

7,100 tourists arrived to registered accommodation (February)

Arrivals to registered accommodation increased one percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 92.8 percent were domestic, and 7.2 percent were from foreign countries.

During February, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Pori on average 1.6 nights (+0.05) and foreigners 5.5 nights (+0.54).

The airport received a total of 440 passengers, which means air passenger arrivals decreased 11 percent.

Of local passengers, 1.1 % arrived from abroad, thus the share of domestic passengers was 98.9 %.

In addition, there were 560 passengers departing the airport (+6.0 %), therefore the total number of trips via the airport was 1,000 (-2.3 %).

Accommodation sales 1.0 million euro (February)

Total accommodation sales in February were 1.0 million euro (+171,000). The share of Airbnb and Vrbo was 13.3 percent. Therefore, registered accommodation sales were 884,000 euro (+118,000) and non-registered sales 135,000 euro (+52,500).

Total January-February sales were 1.9 million euro and they increased 276,000 euro from the previous year.
