Registered bed nights increased 56 percent (January)

In January 2023, 106,000 registered bed nights were recorded in Rovaniemi (+56.1 %), of which 24,200 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 82,100 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights increased 27 percent and registered foreign bed nights increased 67 percent. In total, registered bed nights increased 56 percent from last year's January.

80,500 nights (+39.0 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 25,800 nights (+152.9 %) by business visitors.

Registered bed nights statistics include stats for registered accommodations: hotels, motels, guest houses, hostels, holiday villages and campsites. Establishments with fewer than 20 beds or caravan lots with an electrical connection point are excluded.

Market share 7.0 percent (January)

Total of 1.5 million registered bed nights (+47.7 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 996,000 nights (+44.3 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 528,000 nights (+54.6 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Rovaniemi out of total registered bed nights was 7.0 % (+0.4 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 2.4 % and foreign bed nights 15.5 %.

Total of 393,000 registered bed nights (+25.9 %) were recorded in Lapland, of which 104,000 nights (+4.5 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 289,000 nights (+36.0 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Rovaniemi out of total registered bed nights in Lapland was 27.0 %, out of domestic bed nights 23.2 % and foreign bed nights 28.4 %.

Arrivals to registered accommodation increased 71 percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 28.0 percent were domestic, and 72.0 percent were from foreign countries.

During January, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Rovaniemi on average 1.9 nights (-0.14) and foreigners 2.5 nights (-0.33).
