232,000 bed nights in paid accommodation (August)
Total of 232,000 bed nights (-3.3 %) were recorded in paid accommodation in Southwest Finland in August 2023. This figure includes bed nights at registered establishments as well as at AirBnB and Vrbo. The share of registered bed nights was 73 % and non-registered 27 %.
Between January and August, the number of paid bed nights was 1.4 million (+3.7 %). Share of registered was 75 % and non-registered 25 %.
Registered bed nights statistics include stats for registered accommodations: hotels, motels, guest houses, hostels, holiday villages and campsites. Establishments with fewer than 20 beds or caravan lots with an electrical connection point are excluded. Non-registered bed nights statistics include bed nights from AirBnB and Vrbo.
169,000 registered bed nights (August)
In August 2023, 169,000 registered bed nights were recorded in Southwest Finland (-5.5 %), of which 134,000 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 35,300 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights decreased 13 percent and registered foreign bed nights increased 37 percent. In total, registered bed nights decreased five percent from last year's August.
128,000 nights (-4.2 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 41,600 nights (-9.2 %) by business visitors.
Between January and August, 902,000 registered bed nights (-1.1 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 130,000 (+25.1 %) for foreigners in Southwest Finland, in total 1.0 million (+1.6 %) registered nights.

Arrivals to registered accommodation decreased seven percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 82.4 percent were domestic, and 17.6 percent were from foreign countries.
During August, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Southwest Finland on average 1.6 nights (-0.01) and foreigners 2.0 nights (+0.07).

Accommodation sales 13.0 million euro (August)
Total accommodation sales in August were 13.0 million euro (-291,000). The share of Airbnb and Vrbo was 18.1 percent. Therefore, registered accommodation sales were 10.6 million euro (-380,000) and non-registered sales 2.3 million euro (+88,300).
Total January-August sales were 75.6 million euro and they increased 4.2 million euro from the previous year.
