133,000 bed nights in paid accommodation (August)
Total of 133,000 bed nights (-1.0 %) were recorded in paid accommodation in Turku in August 2023. This figure includes bed nights at registered establishments as well as at AirBnB and Vrbo. The share of registered bed nights was 82 % and non-registered 18 %.
Between January and August, the number of paid bed nights was 822,000 (+5.8 %). Share of registered was 83 % and non-registered 17 %.
Registered bed nights statistics include stats for registered accommodations: hotels, motels, guest houses, hostels, holiday villages and campsites. Establishments with fewer than 20 beds or caravan lots with an electrical connection point are excluded. Non-registered bed nights statistics include bed nights from AirBnB and Vrbo.
109,000 registered bed nights (August)
In August 2023, 109,000 registered bed nights were recorded in Turku (-2.4 %), of which 81,600 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 27,100 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights decreased 14 percent and registered foreign bed nights increased 61 percent. In total, registered bed nights decreased two percent from last year's August.
77,700 nights (-2.3 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 31,000 nights (-2.8 %) by business visitors.
Between January and August, 586,000 registered bed nights (+0.2 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 99,800 (+35.4 %) for foreigners in Turku, in total 686,000 (+4.1 %) registered nights.

Arrivals to registered accommodation decreased five percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 80.0 percent were domestic, and 20.0 percent were from foreign countries.
During August, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Turku on average 1.5 nights (-0.02) and foreigners 2.0 nights (+0.21).
11,300 air travelers (August)
The airport received a total of 11,300 passengers, which means air passenger arrivals increased 50 percent.
Of local passengers, 96.5 % arrived from abroad, thus the share of domestic passengers was 3.5 %.
In addition, there were 10,700 passengers departing the airport (+71.0 %), therefore the total number of trips via the airport was 22,000 (+59.6 %).

There were 148,000 arriving passengers by ferries. In total, the arrivals to port decreased 15 percent. The number of departing passengers was 145,000 (-11.3 %). Most arrivals were from Sweden (146,000 arrivals).

Accommodation sales 8.3 million euro (August)
Total accommodation sales in August were 8.3 million euro (+10,100). The share of Airbnb and Vrbo was 10.5 percent. Therefore, registered accommodation sales were 7.4 million euro (+71,000) and non-registered sales 869,000 euro (-60,900).
Total January-August sales were 48.8 million euro and they increased 3.1 million euro from the previous year.
