908,000 bed nights in paid accommodation (August)
Total of 908,000 bed nights (+6.9 %) were recorded in paid accommodation in Uusimaa in August 2023. This figure includes bed nights at registered establishments as well as at AirBnB and Vrbo. The share of registered bed nights was 79 % and non-registered 21 %.
Between January and August, the number of paid bed nights was 5.3 million (+13.6 %). Share of registered was 81 % and non-registered 19 %.
Registered bed nights statistics include stats for registered accommodations: hotels, motels, guest houses, hostels, holiday villages and campsites. Establishments with fewer than 20 beds or caravan lots with an electrical connection point are excluded. Non-registered bed nights statistics include bed nights from AirBnB and Vrbo.
Registered bed nights increased five percent (August)
In August 2023, 715,000 registered bed nights were recorded in Uusimaa (+4.9 %), of which 390,000 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 325,000 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights increased one percent and registered foreign bed nights increased 10 percent. In total, registered bed nights increased five percent from last year's August.
448,000 nights (+9.4 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 267,000 nights (-2.0 %) by business visitors.
Between January and August, 2.7 million registered bed nights (+6.4 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 1.7 million (+25.9 %) for foreigners in Uusimaa, in total 4.3 million (+13.1 %) registered nights.

398,000 tourists arrived to registered accommodation (August)
Arrivals to registered accommodation increased four percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 59.0 percent were domestic, and 41.0 percent were from foreign countries.
During August, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Uusimaa on average 1.7 nights (+0.02) and foreigners 2.0 nights (-0.01).

892,000 air travelers (August, Helsinki)
The airport received a total of 892,000 passengers, which means air passenger arrivals increased eight percent. 213,000 travelers were transferring planes (+14.1 %) and 679,000 were local passengers (+6.6 %).
Of local passengers, 92.4 % arrived from abroad, thus the share of domestic passengers was 7.6 %. For transferring passengers, the share of travelers arriving from abroad was 89.1 %.
In addition, there were 464,000 passengers departing the airport (+4.0 %), therefore the total number of trips via the airport was 1.4 million (+6.8 %).

721,000 passengers by ferries (July, Helsinki)
There were 721,000 arriving passengers by ferries. In total, the arrivals to port increased six percent. The number of departing passengers was 695,000 (+3.9 %). Most arrivals were from Estonia (531,000 arrivals).

Accommodation sales 56.9 million euro (August)
Total accommodation sales in August were 56.9 million euro (+1.6 million). The share of Airbnb and Vrbo was 13.4 percent. Therefore, registered accommodation sales were 49.3 million euro (+722,000) and non-registered sales 7.6 million euro (+926,000).
Total January-August sales were 349.1 million euro and they increased 56.7 million euro from the previous year.
