Registered bed nights increased 22 percent

In September 2021, 13,200 registered bed nights were recorded in Gällivare (+22.4 %), of which 12,200 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 1,100 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights increased 25 percent and registered foreign bed nights decreased two percent. In total, registered bed nights increased 22 percent from last year's September.

Most foreign registered bed nights were recorded for travelers from Finland (290 nights).

4,200 rooms (+64.8 %) were booked by leisure visitors and 5,200 rooms (+8.7 %) by business visitors.

Between January and September, 107,000 registered bed nights (+38.7 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 9,800 (-3.2 %) for foreigners in Gällivare, in total 117,000 (+33.8 %) registered nights.

Market share 0.3 percent

Total of 4.1 million registered bed nights (+30.6 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 3.4 million nights (+24.9 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 723,000 nights (+65.9 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Gällivare out of total registered bed nights was 0.3 % (-0.0 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 0.4 % and foreign bed nights 0.1 %.

4,400 tourists arrived to registered accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation increased 21 percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 85.3 percent were domestic, and 14.7 percent were from foreign countries.

During September, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Gällivare on average 3.2 nights (+0.36) and foreigners 1.6 nights (-2.3).
