Paid bed nights

Registered bed nights increased 10 percent

In August 2019, 18,500 registered bed nights were recorded in Gällivare (+9.5 %), of which 14,100 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 4,300 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights increased seven percent and registered foreign bed nights increased 18 percent. In total, registered bed nights increased 10 percent from last year's August.

Most foreign registered bed nights were recorded for travelers from Norway (1,000 nights).

2,300 rooms (+165.5 %) were booked by leisure visitors and 4,800 rooms (+17.5 %) by business visitors.

Between January and August, 102,000 registered bed nights (+13.2 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 25,300 (+3.1 %) for foreigners in Gällivare, in total 127,000 (+11.1 %) registered nights.

Total of 8.9 million registered bed nights (+3.6 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 6.1 million nights (+4.0 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 2.8 million nights (+3.0 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Gällivare out of total registered bed nights was 0.2 % (0.0 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 0.2 % and foreign bed nights 0.2 %.

Length of stay increased 40 percent in registered accommodation

Length of stay in registered accommodation increased 40 percent compared to earlier year. In Gällivare, length of stay in August was on average 3.1 nights and in Sweden 2.2 nights (+0.4 %).

During August, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Gällivare on average 2.7 nights (+10.8 %) and foreigners 5.4 nights (+39.8 %).

6,000 tourists arrived to registered accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation decreased 22 percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 86.5 percent were domestic, and 13.5 percent were from foreign countries.

During August, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Gällivare on average 2.7 nights (+0.49) and foreigners 5.4 nights (+3.3).
