Paid bed nights

Registered bed nights increased one percent

In February 2020, 12,000 registered bed nights were recorded in Gällivare (+1.2 %), of which 9,300 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 2,800 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights decreased six percent and registered foreign bed nights increased 36 percent. In total, registered bed nights increased one percent from last year's February.

2,800 rooms (+85.1 %) were booked by leisure visitors and 4,200 rooms (-15.8 %) by business visitors.

Between January and February, 15,600 registered bed nights (-18.5 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 4,800 (+39.3 %) for foreigners in Gällivare, in total 20,400 (-9.7 %) registered nights.

Total of 4.4 million registered bed nights (+3.4 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 3.5 million nights (+5.0 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 935,000 nights (-2.0 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Gällivare out of total registered bed nights was 0.3 % (-0.0 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 0.3 % and foreign bed nights 0.3 %.

Length of stay was 2.4 nights in registered accommodation

Length of stay in registered accommodation decreased 19 percent compared to earlier year. In Gällivare, length of stay in February was on average 2.4 nights and in Sweden 2.4 nights (-3.1 %).

During February, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Gällivare on average 2.4 nights (-20.8 %) and foreigners 2.5 nights (-22.3 %).

5,000 tourists arrived to registered accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation increased 25 percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 77.6 percent were domestic, and 22.4 percent were from foreign countries.

During February, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Gällivare on average 2.4 nights (-0.5) and foreigners 2.5 nights (-1.0).
