Paid bed nights

Registered bed nights increased 12 percent

In February 2020, 29,900 registered bed nights were recorded in Gävle (+12.1 %), of which 27,900 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 1,900 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights increased 16 percent and registered foreign bed nights decreased 27 percent. In total, registered bed nights increased 12 percent from last year's February.

Most foreign registered bed nights were recorded for travelers from United States (620 nights).

6,600 rooms (+3.2 %) were booked by leisure visitors and 12,100 rooms (+7.0 %) by business visitors.

Between January and February, 54,000 registered bed nights (+11.3 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 3,400 (-37.0 %) for foreigners in Gävle, in total 57,300 (+6.5 %) registered nights.

Total of 4.4 million registered bed nights (+3.4 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 3.5 million nights (+5.0 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 935,000 nights (-2.0 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Gävle out of total registered bed nights was 0.7 % (+0.1 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 0.8 % and foreign bed nights 0.2 %.

Length of stay increased four percent in registered accommodation

Length of stay in registered accommodation increased four percent compared to earlier year. In Gävle, length of stay in February was on average 1.5 nights and in Sweden 2.4 nights (-3.1 %).

During February, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Gävle on average 1.5 nights (+3.0 %) and foreigners 1.5 nights (-15.5 %).

20,000 tourists arrived to registered accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation increased eight percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 93.5 percent were domestic, and 6.5 percent were from foreign countries.

During February, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Gävle on average 1.5 nights (+0.08) and foreigners 1.5 nights (-0.14).
