Paid bed nights

Registered bed nights increased 11 percent

In March 2021, 19,100 registered bed nights were recorded in Gävle (+11.4 %), of which 18,000 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 1,100 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights increased 12 percent and registered foreign bed nights increased three percent. In total, registered bed nights increased 11 percent from last year's March.

4,300 rooms (+6.4 %) were booked by leisure visitors and 7,300 rooms (-6.6 %) by business visitors.

Between January and March, 48,400 registered bed nights (-30.9 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 3,900 (-11.1 %) for foreigners in Gävle, in total 52,300 (-29.7 %) registered nights.

Total of 2.9 million registered bed nights (+2.8 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 2.7 million nights (+11.1 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 218,000 nights (-46.3 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Gävle out of total registered bed nights was 0.7 % (+0.1 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 0.7 % and foreign bed nights 0.5 %.

Length of stay increased 14 percent in registered accommodation

Length of stay in registered accommodation increased 14 percent compared to earlier year. In Gävle, length of stay in March was on average 1.9 nights and in Sweden 3.2 nights (+21.8 %).

During March, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Gävle on average 1.9 nights (+9.1 %) and foreigners 1.8 nights (+28.8 %).

9,900 tourists arrived to registered accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation decreased two percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 94.1 percent were domestic, and 5.9 percent were from foreign countries.

During March, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Gävle on average 1.9 nights (+0.24) and foreigners 1.8 nights (+0.19).
