Paid bed nights

Registered bed nights increased 23 percent

In December 2018, 76,300 registered bed nights were recorded in Gävleborg County (+22.8 %), of which 70,900 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 5,400 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights increased 21 percent and registered foreign bed nights increased 43 percent. In total, registered bed nights increased 23 percent from last year's December.

11,800 rooms (+8.1 %) were booked by leisure visitors and 16,500 rooms (-3.2 %) by business visitors.

Between January and December, 1.1 million registered bed nights (+8.8 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 124,000 (+23.0 %) for foreigners in Gävleborg County, in total 1.2 million (+10.1 %) registered nights.

Market share 2.2 percent

Total of 3.4 million registered bed nights (+1.7 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 2.7 million nights (+1.3 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 787,000 nights (+3.2 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Gävleborg County out of total registered bed nights was 2.2 % (+0.4 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 2.7 % and foreign bed nights 0.7 %.

Length of stay increased 30 percent in registered accommodation

Length of stay in registered accommodation increased 30 percent compared to earlier year. In Gävleborg County, length of stay in December was on average 2.3 nights and in Sweden 2.1 nights (-0.1 %).

During December, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Gävleborg County on average 2.3 nights (+10.6 %) and foreigners 2.6 nights (+13.3 %).

32,600 tourists arrived to registered accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation decreased five percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 93.6 percent were domestic, and 6.4 percent were from foreign countries.

During December, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Gävleborg County on average 2.3 nights (+0.52) and foreigners 2.6 nights (+0.67).
