Paid bed nights

Registered bed nights increased 12 percent

In May 2019, 87,700 registered bed nights were recorded in Gävleborg County (+11.7 %), of which 80,100 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 7,600 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights increased 10 percent and registered foreign bed nights increased 29 percent. In total, registered bed nights increased 12 percent from last year's May.

Most foreign registered bed nights were recorded for travelers from Germany (1,300 nights).

15,600 rooms (+43.4 %) were booked by leisure visitors and 28,800 rooms (+6.1 %) by business visitors.

Between January and May, 441,000 registered bed nights (+3.5 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 27,900 (+16.6 %) for foreigners in Gävleborg County, in total 469,000 (+4.2 %) registered nights.

Market share 1.6 percent

Total of 5.3 million registered bed nights (+3.0 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 4.1 million nights (+6.1 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 1.3 million nights (-5.8 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Gävleborg County out of total registered bed nights was 1.6 % (+0.1 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 2.0 % and foreign bed nights 0.6 %.

Length of stay was 1.8 nights in registered accommodation

Length of stay in registered accommodation increased less than one percent compared to earlier year. In Gävleborg County, length of stay in May was on average 1.8 nights and in Sweden 1.8 nights (-5.1 %).

During May, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Gävleborg County on average 1.8 nights (+1.6 %) and foreigners 2.4 nights (+6.6 %).

47,400 tourists arrived to registered accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation increased 11 percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 93.2 percent were domestic, and 6.8 percent were from foreign countries.

During May, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Gävleborg County on average 1.8 nights (-0.02) and foreigners 2.4 nights (+0.34).
