Paid bed nights

69,500 registered bed nights

In March 2020, 69,500 registered bed nights were recorded in Gävleborg County (-36.0 %), of which 66,300 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 3,200 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights decreased 36 percent and registered foreign bed nights decreased 33 percent. In total, registered bed nights decreased 36 percent from last year's March.

Most foreign registered bed nights were recorded for travelers from Denmark (410 nights).

10,200 rooms (-37.7 %) were booked by leisure visitors and 17,300 rooms (-30.3 %) by business visitors.

Between January and March, 284,000 registered bed nights (-6.4 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 15,300 (-3.7 %) for foreigners in Gävleborg County, in total 299,000 (-6.3 %) registered nights.

Total of 2.8 million registered bed nights (-37.5 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 2.4 million nights (-33.4 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 406,000 nights (-54.3 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Gävleborg County out of total registered bed nights was 2.5 % (+0.1 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 2.7 % and foreign bed nights 0.8 %.

Length of stay increased two percent in registered accommodation

Length of stay in registered accommodation increased two percent compared to earlier year. In Gävleborg County, length of stay in March was on average 2.8 nights and in Sweden 2.7 nights (+19.0 %).

During March, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Gävleborg County on average 2.8 nights (+0.1 %) and foreigners 2.9 nights (+32.6 %).

24,600 tourists arrived to registered accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation decreased 37 percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 95.5 percent were domestic, and 4.5 percent were from foreign countries.

During March, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Gävleborg County on average 2.8 nights (-0.01) and foreigners 2.9 nights (+0.93).
