Registered bed nights increased 44 percent

In September 2021, 256,000 registered bed nights were recorded in Gothenburg (+44.4 %), of which 215,000 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 41,000 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights increased 40 percent and registered foreign bed nights increased 70 percent. In total, registered bed nights increased 44 percent from last year's September.

82,300 rooms (+40.2 %) were booked by leisure visitors and 68,800 rooms (+43.6 %) by business visitors.

Between January and September, 1.7 million registered bed nights (+22.3 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 315,000 (+15.3 %) for foreigners in Gothenburg, in total 2.0 million (+21.1 %) registered nights.

Market share 6.3 percent

Total of 4.1 million registered bed nights (+30.6 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 3.4 million nights (+24.9 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 723,000 nights (+65.9 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Gothenburg out of total registered bed nights was 6.3 % (+0.6 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 6.4 % and foreign bed nights 5.7 %.

157,000 tourists arrived to registered accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation increased 47 percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 85.5 percent were domestic, and 14.5 percent were from foreign countries.

During September, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Gothenburg on average 1.6 nights (-0.03) and foreigners 1.8 nights (-0.07).

247,000 air travelers

The airport received a total of 247,000 passengers, which means air passenger arrivals increased 160 percent.

Of local passengers, 86.5 % arrived from abroad, thus the share of domestic passengers was 13.5 %.

In addition, there were 137,000 passengers departing the airport (+140.3 %), therefore the total number of trips via the airport was 144,000 (+149.6 %).

Registered accommodation sales in September were 178.1 million SEK (+77.2 million).

Registered January-September sales were 1.1 billion SEK and they increased 115.0 million euro from the previous year.
