Registered bed nights increased 158 percent

In May 2022, 361,000 registered bed nights were recorded in Gothenburg (+158.3 %), of which 275,000 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 86,500 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights increased 130 percent and registered foreign bed nights increased 330 percent. In total, registered bed nights increased 158 percent from last year's May.

99,500 rooms (+114.6 %) were booked by leisure visitors and 124,000 rooms (+231.1 %) by business visitors.

Between January and May, 963,000 registered bed nights (+103.6 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 298,000 (+325.2 %) for foreigners in Gothenburg, in total 1.3 million (+132.1 %) registered nights.

Market share 6.7 percent

Total of 5.4 million registered bed nights (+64.2 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 4.4 million nights (+46.9 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 993,000 nights (+241.6 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Gothenburg out of total registered bed nights was 6.7 % (+2.4 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 6.2 % and foreign bed nights 8.7 %.

232,000 tourists arrived to registered accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation increased 220 percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 77.4 percent were domestic, and 22.6 percent were from foreign countries.

During May, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Gothenburg on average 1.5 nights (-0.38) and foreigners 1.6 nights (-0.37).

214,000 air travelers

The airport received a total of 214,000 passengers, which means air passenger arrivals increased 570 percent.

Of local passengers, 85.4 % arrived from abroad, thus the share of domestic passengers was 14.6 %.

In addition, there were 214,000 passengers departing the airport (+555.4 %), therefore the total number of trips via the airport was 427,000 (+564.1 %).
