Registered bed nights increased 23 percent

In August 2022, 511,000 registered bed nights were recorded in Gothenburg (+22.5 %), of which 366,000 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 145,000 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights increased nine percent and registered foreign bed nights increased 75 percent. In total, registered bed nights increased 23 percent from last year's August.

153,000 rooms (+19.2 %) were booked by leisure visitors and 98,000 rooms (+61.0 %) by business visitors.

Between January and August, 2.1 million registered bed nights (+45.4 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 781,000 (+185.0 %) for foreigners in Gothenburg, in total 2.9 million (+67.7 %) registered nights.

Market share 5.8 percent

Total of 8.8 million registered bed nights (+5.1 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 6.5 million nights (-4.1 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 2.3 million nights (+44.1 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Gothenburg out of total registered bed nights was 5.8 % (+0.8 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 5.6 % and foreign bed nights 6.3 %.

285,000 tourists arrived to registered accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation increased 25 percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 75.3 percent were domestic, and 24.7 percent were from foreign countries.

During August, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Gothenburg on average 1.7 nights (-0.04) and foreigners 2.1 nights (-0.15).

254,000 air travelers

The airport received a total of 254,000 passengers, which means air passenger arrivals increased 71 percent.

Of local passengers, 87.8 % arrived from abroad, thus the share of domestic passengers was 12.2 %.

In addition, there were 219,000 passengers departing the airport (+88.1 %), therefore the total number of trips via the airport was 473,000 (+78.6 %).

Registered accommodation sales in August were 440.8 million crowns (+226.0 million).

Registered January-August sales were 2.2 billion crowns and they increased 1.3 billion crowns from the previous year.
