177,000 registered bed nights

In September 2020, 177,000 registered bed nights were recorded in Gothenburg (-47.7 %), of which 153,000 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 24,100 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights decreased 34 percent and registered foreign bed nights decreased 78 percent. In total, registered bed nights decreased 48 percent from last year's September.

Most foreign registered bed nights were recorded for travelers from Germany (4,000 nights).

58,700 rooms (-43.5 %) were booked by leisure visitors and 47,900 rooms (-62.3 %) by business visitors.

Between January and September, 1.4 million registered bed nights (-41.9 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 273,000 (-74.5 %) for foreigners in Gothenburg, in total 1.6 million (-52.2 %) registered nights.

Market share 5.7 percent

Total of 3.1 million registered bed nights (-30.6 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 2.7 million nights (-19.9 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 441,000 nights (-61.9 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Gothenburg out of total registered bed nights was 5.7 % (-1.8 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 5.7 % and foreign bed nights 5.5 %.

106,000 tourists arrived to registered accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation decreased 46 percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 88.0 percent were domestic, and 12.0 percent were from foreign countries.

During September, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Gothenburg on average 1.6 nights (+0.0) and foreigners 1.9 nights (-0.08).

47,100 air travelers

The airport received a total of 47,100 passengers, which means air passenger arrivals decreased 85 percent.

Of local passengers, 79.3 % arrived from abroad, thus the share of domestic passengers was 20.7 %.

In addition, there were 47,800 passengers departing the airport (-85.1 %), therefore the total number of trips via the airport was 94,900 (-85.0 %).

Registered January-September sales were 957.4 million SEK and they decreased 1.5 billion euro from the previous year.
