Göteborg: Tourism in a nutshell
122,000 registered bed nights
In March 2020, 122,000 bed nights were recorded in Göteborg (-57.1 %), of which 97,300 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 24,700 nights by foreigners. Domestic bed nights decreased 53 percent and foreign bed nights decreased 67 percent. In total, bed nights decreased 57 percent from last year's March.
35,000 rooms (-56.9 %) were booked by leisure visitors and 52,700 rooms (-54.1 %) by business visitors.
Between January and March, 500,000 bed nights (-11.7 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 167,000 (-22.7 %) for foreigners in Göteborg, in total 667,000 (-14.7 %) nights.
Registered bed nights statistics include stats for registered accommodations: hotels, holiday villages, youth hostels, campsites, and commercially arranged rentals in private cottages and apartments. Establishments with fewer than 9 beds or 5 rooms are excluded.

Arrivals to registered accommodation decreased 58 percent compared to earlier year. Of all arrivals, 82.4 percent were domestic, and 17.6 percent were from foreign countries.
During March, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Göteborg on average 1.6 nights (+0.05) and foreigners 1.9 nights (+0.02).
109,000 air travelers
The airport received a total of 109,000 passengers, which means air passenger arrivals decreased 56 percent.
Of local passengers, 81.2 % arrived from abroad, thus the share of domestic passengers was 18.8 %.
In addition, there were 79,700 passengers departing the airport (-67.2 %), therefore the total number of trips via the airport was 189,000 (-61.5 %).
