Paid bed nights

54,500 registered bed nights

In April 2020, 54,500 registered bed nights were recorded in Gothenburg (-83.9 %), of which 48,000 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 6,500 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights decreased 80 percent and registered foreign bed nights decreased 93 percent. In total, registered bed nights decreased 84 percent from last year's April.

Most foreign registered bed nights were recorded for travelers from Norway (580 nights).

19,500 rooms (-79.5 %) were booked by leisure visitors and 15,400 rooms (-86.3 %) by business visitors.

Between January and April, 548,000 registered bed nights (-32.1 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 173,000 (-44.7 %) for foreigners in Gothenburg, in total 722,000 (-35.6 %) registered nights.

Total of 1.3 million registered bed nights (-70.4 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 1.1 million nights (-65.3 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 114,000 nights (-88.0 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Gothenburg out of total registered bed nights was 4.3 % (-3.6 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 4.2 % and foreign bed nights 5.7 %.

Length of stay increased three percent in registered accommodation

Length of stay in registered accommodation increased three percent compared to earlier year. In Gothenburg, length of stay in April was on average 1.8 nights and in Sweden 2.5 nights (+16.7 %).

During April, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Gothenburg on average 1.8 nights (-1.7 %) and foreigners 2.2 nights (-4.0 %).

29,500 tourists arrived to registered accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation decreased 84 percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 89.7 percent were domestic, and 10.3 percent were from foreign countries.

During April, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Gothenburg on average 1.8 nights (+0.13) and foreigners 2.2 nights (+0.03).

The airport received a total of 2,000 passengers, which means air passenger arrivals decreased 99 percent.

Of local passengers, 80.6 % arrived from abroad, thus the share of domestic passengers was 19.4 %.

In addition, there were 860 passengers departing the airport (-99.7 %), therefore the total number of trips via the airport was 2,800 (-99.5 %).
