85,000 registered bed nights

In December 2020, 85,000 registered bed nights were recorded in Gothenburg (-70.8 %), of which 74,000 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 11,000 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights decreased 65 percent and registered foreign bed nights decreased 86 percent. In total, registered bed nights decreased 71 percent from last year's December.

31,900 rooms (-64.0 %) were booked by leisure visitors and 21,200 rooms (-73.9 %) by business visitors.

Between January and December, 1.7 million registered bed nights (-44.1 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 333,000 (-75.0 %) for foreigners in Gothenburg, in total 2.0 million (-53.5 %) registered nights.

Market share 4.7 percent

Total of 1.8 million registered bed nights (-47.3 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 1.6 million nights (-40.0 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 208,000 nights (-72.8 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Gothenburg out of total registered bed nights was 4.7 % (-3.8 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 4.6 % and foreign bed nights 5.3 %.

Length of stay increased seven percent in registered accommodation

Length of stay in registered accommodation increased seven percent compared to earlier year. In Gothenburg, length of stay in December was on average 1.7 nights and in Sweden 2.8 nights (+37.5 %).

During December, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Gothenburg on average 1.6 nights (+4.1 %) and foreigners 2.0 nights (-2.3 %).

50,500 tourists arrived to registered accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation decreased 73 percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 89.3 percent were domestic, and 10.7 percent were from foreign countries.

During December, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Gothenburg on average 1.6 nights (+0.16) and foreigners 2.0 nights (+0.12).

26,500 air travelers

The airport received a total of 26,500 passengers, which means air passenger arrivals decreased 88 percent.

Of local passengers, 82.1 % arrived from abroad, thus the share of domestic passengers was 17.9 %.

In addition, there were 34,400 passengers departing the airport (-86.2 %), therefore the total number of trips via the airport was 60,900 (-86.9 %).
