103,000 registered bed nights

In March 2021, 103,000 registered bed nights were recorded in Gothenburg (-15.8 %), of which 90,100 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 12,600 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights decreased seven percent and registered foreign bed nights decreased 49 percent. In total, registered bed nights decreased 16 percent from last year's March.

36,100 rooms (+2.4 %) were booked by leisure visitors and 29,400 rooms (-44.0 %) by business visitors.

Between January and March, 248,000 registered bed nights (-50.4 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 33,200 (-80.1 %) for foreigners in Gothenburg, in total 281,000 (-57.8 %) registered nights.

Market share 3.5 percent

Total of 2.9 million registered bed nights (+2.8 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 2.7 million nights (+11.1 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 218,000 nights (-46.3 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Gothenburg out of total registered bed nights was 3.5 % (-0.8 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 3.4 % and foreign bed nights 5.8 %.

Length of stay increased 10 percent in registered accommodation

Length of stay in registered accommodation increased 10 percent compared to earlier year. In Gothenburg, length of stay in March was on average 1.8 nights and in Sweden 3.2 nights (+21.8 %).

During March, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Gothenburg on average 1.8 nights (+9.8 %) and foreigners 1.9 nights (+0.6 %).

56,900 tourists arrived to registered accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation decreased 23 percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 88.2 percent were domestic, and 11.8 percent were from foreign countries.

During March, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Gothenburg on average 1.8 nights (+0.2) and foreigners 1.9 nights (0.0).

The airport received a total of 18,900 passengers, which means air passenger arrivals decreased 83 percent.

Of local passengers, 75.3 % arrived from abroad, thus the share of domestic passengers was 24.7 %.

In addition, there were 20,400 passengers departing the airport (-74.4 %), therefore the total number of trips via the airport was 39,300 (-79.2 %).
