Paid bed nights

Registered bed nights increased 146 percent

In March 2022, 157,000 registered bed nights were recorded in Hallingdal (+145.6 %), of which 89,900 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 67,200 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights increased 43 percent and registered foreign bed nights increased 6,600 percent. In total, registered bed nights increased 146 percent from last year's March.

46,900 nights (+93.2 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 3,800 nights (+113.5 %) by business visitors.

Between January and March, 213,000 registered bed nights (+25.6 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 206,000 (+5,184.7 %) for foreigners in Hallingdal, in total 419,000 (+141.8 %) registered nights.

Total of 2.3 million registered bed nights (+142.9 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 1.8 million nights (+110.6 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 507,000 nights (+443.4 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Hallingdal out of total registered bed nights was 6.7 % (+0.1 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 4.9 % and foreign bed nights 13.3 %.

Length of stay was 3.4 nights in registered accommodation

Length of stay in registered accommodation decreased five percent compared to earlier year. In Hallingdal, length of stay in March was on average 3.4 nights and in Norway 2.1 nights (-23.5 %).

During March, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Hallingdal on average 2.8 nights (-13.5 %) and foreigners 5.0 nights (+30.3 %).

45,800 tourists arrived to registered accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation increased 159 percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 70.8 percent were domestic, and 29.2 percent were from foreign countries.

During March, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Hallingdal on average 2.8 nights (-0.83) and foreigners 5.0 nights (-0.33).
