Hämeenlinna Region: Tourism in a nutshell
Registered bed nights increased 22 percent
In March 2019, 17,300 bed nights were recorded in Hämeenlinna Region (+21.7 %), of which 16,400 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 940 nights by foreigners. Domestic bed nights increased 26 percent and foreign bed nights decreased 27 percent. In total, bed nights increased 22 percent from last year's March.
Most foreign bed nights were recorded for travelers from Sweden (123 nights).
7,600 nights (-15.5 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 9,800 nights (+84.5 %) by business visitors.
Between January and March, 40,400 bed nights (+15.8 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 4,200 (-2.6 %) for foreigners in Hämeenlinna Region, in total 44,600 (+13.8 %) nights.
Registered bed nights statistics include stats for registered accommodations: hotels, motels, guest houses, hostels, holiday villages and campsites. Establishments with fewer than 20 beds or caravan lots with an electrical connection point are excluded.

Total of 1.9 million bed nights (-2.3 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 1.3 million nights (-2.6 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 566,000 nights (-1.4 %) by foreigners.
The market share of Hämeenlinna Region out of total bed nights was 0.9 % (+0.2 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 1.3 % and foreign bed nights 0.2 %.
11,500 tourists arrived to accommodation
Arrivals to registered accommodation increased 10 percent compared to earlier year. Of all arrivals, 94.9 percent were domestic, and 5.1 percent were from foreign countries.
During March, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Hämeenlinna Region on average 1.5 nights (+0.19) and foreigners 1.6 nights (-0.63).

Registered accommodation sales in March were 1.0 million euro (+343,000).
Registered January-March sales were 2.5 million euro and they increased 610,000 euro from the previous year.
