Hämeenlinna: Tourism in a nutshell
Registered bed nights increased four percent
In August 2019, 24,300 bed nights were recorded in Hämeenlinna (+4.2 %), of which 22,400 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 2,000 nights by foreigners. Domestic bed nights increased eight percent and foreign bed nights decreased 27 percent. In total, bed nights increased four percent from last year's August.
Most foreign bed nights were recorded for travelers from Sweden (300 nights).
16,200 nights (-4.7 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 8,200 nights (+27.7 %) by business visitors.
Between January and August, 135,000 bed nights (+5.8 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 10,500 (-21.5 %) for foreigners in Hämeenlinna, in total 145,000 (+3.2 %) nights.
Registered bed nights statistics include stats for registered accommodations: hotels, motels, guest houses, hostels, holiday villages and campsites. Establishments with fewer than 20 beds or caravan lots with an electrical connection point are excluded.

Arrivals to registered accommodation increased 10 percent compared to earlier year. Of all arrivals, 93.5 percent were domestic, and 6.5 percent were from foreign countries.
During August, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Hämeenlinna on average 1.5 nights (-0.1) and foreigners 1.9 nights (+0.24).
