Hanko: Tourism in a nutshell
Registered bed nights increased 45 percent
In March 2019, 2,000 bed nights were recorded in Hanko (+44.9 %), of which 1,600 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 320 nights by foreigners. Domestic bed nights increased 41 percent and foreign bed nights increased 65 percent. In total, bed nights increased 45 percent from last year's March.
Most foreign bed nights were recorded for travelers from Sweden (81 nights).
1,400 nights (+155.5 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 520 nights (-33.6 %) by business visitors.
Between January and March, 4,000 bed nights (+25.4 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 1,100 (+312.5 %) for foreigners in Hanko, in total 5,100 (+46.6 %) nights.
Registered bed nights statistics include stats for registered accommodations: hotels, motels, guest houses, hostels, holiday villages and campsites. Establishments with fewer than 20 beds or caravan lots with an electrical connection point are excluded.

Total of 1.9 million bed nights (-2.3 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 1.3 million nights (-2.6 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 566,000 nights (-1.4 %) by foreigners.
The market share of Hanko out of total bed nights was 0.1 % (0.0 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 0.1 % and foreign bed nights 0.1 %.
1,200 tourists arrived to accommodation
Arrivals to registered accommodation increased 38 percent compared to earlier year. Of all arrivals, 96.1 percent were domestic, and 3.9 percent were from foreign countries.
During March, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Hanko on average 1.5 nights (-0.05) and foreigners 7.0 nights (+4.6).
11 passengers by ferries
There were 11 arriving passengers by ferries. The number of departing passengers was 30. Most arrivals were from Estonia (11 arrivals).

Accommodation sales 150,000 euro
Total accommodation sales in March were 150,000 euro (+53,200). The share of Airbnb and HomeAway was 18.6 percent. Therefore, registered accommodation sales were 126,000 euro (+34,900) and Airbnb and HomeAway sales 23,500 euro (+18,300).
Total January-March sales were 375,000 euro and they increased 142,000 euro from the previous year.
