Hanko: Tourism in a nutshell

2,600 bed nights in paid accommodation
Total of 2,600 bed nights (-3.4 %) were recorded in paid accommodation in Hanko in December 2020. This figure includes bed nights at registered establishments as well as at AirBnB and Vrbo. The share of registered bed nights was 58 % and non-registered 42 %.
Between January and December, the number of paid bed nights was 77,600 (+1.9 %). Share of registered was 68 % and non-registered 32 %.
Registered bed nights statistics include stats for registered accommodations: hotels, motels, guest houses, hostels, holiday villages and campsites. Establishments with fewer than 20 beds or caravan lots with an electrical connection point are excluded. Non-registered bed nights statistics include bed nights from AirBnB and Vrbo.
Registered bed nights increased six percent
In December 2020, 1,500 registered bed nights were recorded in Hanko (+6.1 %), of which 1,500 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 44 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights increased six percent and registered foreign bed nights increased five percent. In total, registered bed nights increased six percent from last year's December.
1,300 nights (+32.1 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 169 nights (-58.6 %) by business visitors.
Between January and December, 52,000 registered bed nights (+4.7 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 1,200 (-75.3 %) for foreigners in Hanko, in total 53,100 (-2.2 %) registered nights.

Arrivals to registered accommodation increased six percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 97.5 percent were domestic, and 2.5 percent were from foreign countries.
During December, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Hanko on average 1.3 nights (0.0) and foreigners 1.5 nights (+0.2).

Accommodation sales 139,000 euro
Total accommodation sales in December were 139,000 euro (-23,200). The share of Airbnb and Vrbo was 24.6 percent. Therefore, registered accommodation sales were 105,000 euro (-11,800) and non-registered sales 34,200 euro (-11,500).
Total January-December sales were 6.3 million euro and they increased 716,000 euro from the previous year.
