Paid bed nights
Registered bed nights increased 70 percent
In December 2019, 8,000 registered bed nights were recorded in Haparanda (+69.9 %), of which 3,500 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 4,400 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights increased 71 percent and registered foreign bed nights increased 69 percent. In total, registered bed nights increased 70 percent from last year's December.
2,600 rooms (+239.5 %) were booked by leisure visitors and 1,200 rooms (+221.6 %) by business visitors.
Between January and December, 52,100 registered bed nights (+22.0 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 32,900 (+17.3 %) for foreigners in Haparanda, in total 85,000 (+20.1 %) registered nights.
Registered bed nights statistics include stats for registered accommodations: hotels, holiday villages, youth hostels and campsites. Establishments with fewer than 9 beds or 5 rooms are excluded.

Length of stay in registered accommodation decreased 37 percent compared to earlier year. In Haparanda, length of stay in December was on average 1.9 nights and in Sweden 2.0 nights (-2.1 %).
During December, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Haparanda on average 2.1 nights (+8.9 %) and foreigners 1.9 nights (-2.6 %).
4,100 tourists arrived to registered accommodation
Arrivals to registered accommodation increased 169 percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 41.8 percent were domestic, and 58.2 percent were from foreign countries.
During December, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Haparanda on average 2.1 nights (-1.3) and foreigners 1.9 nights (-1.0).
