Paid bed nights

3,300 registered bed nights

In December 2020, 3,300 registered bed nights were recorded in Haparanda (-58.8 %), of which 2,400 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 870 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights decreased 32 percent and registered foreign bed nights decreased 80 percent. In total, registered bed nights decreased 59 percent from last year's December.

Most foreign registered bed nights were recorded for travelers from France (145 nights).

500 rooms (-81.1 %) were booked by leisure visitors and 1,400 rooms (+16.3 %) by business visitors.

Between January and December, 56,600 registered bed nights (+8.7 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 12,300 (-62.8 %) for foreigners in Haparanda, in total 68,900 (-19.0 %) registered nights.

Total of 1.8 million registered bed nights (-47.3 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 1.6 million nights (-40.0 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 208,000 nights (-72.8 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Haparanda out of total registered bed nights was 0.2 % (-0.1 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 0.1 % and foreign bed nights 0.4 %.

Length of stay increased 90 percent in registered accommodation

Length of stay in registered accommodation increased 90 percent compared to earlier year. In Haparanda, length of stay in December was on average 3.7 nights and in Sweden 2.8 nights (+37.5 %).

During December, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Haparanda on average 4.4 nights (+8.1 %) and foreigners 2.5 nights (+8.8 %).

900 tourists arrived to registered accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation decreased 78 percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 61.5 percent were domestic, and 38.5 percent were from foreign countries.

During December, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Haparanda on average 4.4 nights (+2.3) and foreigners 2.5 nights (+0.67).
