Paid bed nights

Registered bed nights increased one percent

In August 2021, 12,000 registered bed nights were recorded in Haparanda (+0.9 %), of which 10,100 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 1,900 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights decreased six percent and registered foreign bed nights increased 66 percent. In total, registered bed nights increased one percent from last year's August.

3,500 rooms (+397.8 %) were booked by leisure visitors and 1,600 rooms (-75.2 %) by business visitors.

Between January and August, 43,500 registered bed nights (+2.1 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 7,300 (-22.3 %) for foreigners in Haparanda, in total 50,800 (-2.3 %) registered nights.

Total of 8.4 million registered bed nights (+39.1 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 6.8 million nights (+25.4 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 1.6 million nights (+160.6 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Haparanda out of total registered bed nights was 0.1 % (-0.1 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 0.1 % and foreign bed nights 0.1 %.

Length of stay was 1.8 nights in registered accommodation

Length of stay in registered accommodation decreased 56 percent compared to earlier year. In Haparanda, length of stay in August was on average 1.8 nights and in Sweden 2.2 nights (-3.6 %).

During August, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Haparanda on average 1.8 nights (-16.7 %) and foreigners 1.8 nights (+2.3 %).

6,600 tourists arrived to registered accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation increased 127 percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 84.8 percent were domestic, and 15.2 percent were from foreign countries.

During August, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Haparanda on average 1.8 nights (-2.6) and foreigners 1.8 nights (-0.7).
