Registered bed nights increased 28 percent

In August 2022, 119,000 registered bed nights were recorded in Hardanger (+28.0 %), of which 45,600 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 72,900 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights decreased 29 percent and registered foreign bed nights increased 158 percent. In total, registered bed nights increased 28 percent from last year's August.

46,200 nights (+29.1 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 2,700 nights (-21.9 %) by business visitors.

Between January and August, 246,000 registered bed nights (-16.0 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 218,000 (+381.6 %) for foreigners in Hardanger, in total 465,000 (+37.2 %) registered nights.

Market share 2.3 percent

Total of 5.2 million registered bed nights (+18.4 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 3.2 million nights (-8.0 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 1.9 million nights (+129.4 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Hardanger out of total registered bed nights was 2.3 % (+0.2 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 1.4 % and foreign bed nights 3.8 %.

71,100 tourists arrived to registered accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation increased 20 percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 38.2 percent were domestic, and 61.8 percent were from foreign countries.

During August, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Hardanger on average 1.7 nights (+0.13) and foreigners 1.7 nights (+0.07).
