Heinola Region: Tourism in a nutshell
Registered accommodation. All changes are relative to the same period a year ago.
Registered bed nights increased nine percent
In August 2022, 27,100 registered bed nights were recorded in Heinola Region (+8.9 %), of which 25,400 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 1,700 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights increased eight percent and registered foreign bed nights increased 16 percent. In total, registered bed nights increased nine percent from last year's August.
24,200 nights (+3.9 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 2,900 nights (+83.2 %) by business visitors.
Between January and August, 151,000 registered bed nights (+27.7 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 5,900 (+95.4 %) for foreigners in Heinola Region, in total 157,000 (+29.4 %) registered nights.
Registered bed nights statistics include stats for registered accommodations: hotels, motels, guest houses, hostels, holiday villages and campsites. Establishments with fewer than 20 beds or caravan lots with an electrical connection point are excluded.
Registered bed nights increased 11 percent (Heinola)
In August 2022, 22,200 registered bed nights were recorded in Heinola (+11.4 %), of which 21,100 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 1,100 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights increased 14 percent and registered foreign bed nights decreased 20 percent. In total, registered bed nights increased 11 percent from last year's August.
19,500 nights (+4.8 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 2,700 nights (+104.6 %) by business visitors.
Between January and August, 135,000 registered bed nights (+35.9 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 4,400 (+62.6 %) for foreigners in Heinola, in total 139,000 (+36.6 %) registered nights.

Arrivals to registered accommodation increased 14 percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 96.6 percent were domestic, and 3.4 percent were from foreign countries.
During August, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Heinola Region on average 1.8 nights (-0.1) and foreigners 3.3 nights (+0.38).
