Registered bed nights increased eight percent
In January 2020, 446,000 bed nights were recorded in Helsinki Metropolitan Area (+8.2 %), of which 237,000 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 209,000 nights by foreigners. Domestic bed nights increased 10 percent and foreign bed nights increased seven percent. In total, bed nights increased eight percent from last year's January.
Most foreign bed nights were recorded for travelers from Russia (41,000 nights).
215,000 nights (+9.6 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 230,000 nights (+7.0 %) by business visitors.
Registered bed nights statistics include stats for registered accommodations: hotels, motels, guest houses, hostels, holiday villages and campsites. Establishments with fewer than 20 beds or caravan lots with an electrical connection point are excluded.

272,000 tourists arrived to accommodation
Arrivals to registered accommodation increased eight percent compared to earlier year. Of all arrivals, 57.2 percent were domestic, and 42.8 percent were from foreign countries.
During January, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Helsinki Metropolitan Area on average 1.5 nights (-0.01) and foreigners 1.8 nights (+0.01).
