Registered bed nights increased 52 percent

In January 2022, 175,000 registered bed nights were recorded in Helsinki Metropolitan Area (+51.7 %), of which 110,000 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 65,200 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights increased 18 percent and registered foreign bed nights increased 190 percent. In total, registered bed nights increased 52 percent from last year's January.

81,900 nights (+51.1 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 93,500 nights (+52.3 %) by business visitors.

Market share 17.0 percent

Total of 1.0 million registered bed nights (+50.7 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 690,000 nights (+9.1 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 342,000 nights (+558.2 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Helsinki Metropolitan Area out of total registered bed nights was 17.0 % (+0.1 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 16.0 % and foreign bed nights 19.1 %.

90,100 tourists arrived to registered accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation increased 53 percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 63.9 percent were domestic, and 36.1 percent were from foreign countries.

During January, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Helsinki Metropolitan Area on average 1.9 nights (+0.04) and foreigners 2.0 nights (-0.37).
