Registered bed nights increased 73 percent

In September 2021, 293,000 registered bed nights were recorded in Helsinki Metropolitan Area (+73.3 %), of which 196,000 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 97,100 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights increased 43 percent and registered foreign bed nights increased 200 percent. In total, registered bed nights increased 73 percent from last year's September.

150,000 nights (+101.2 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 143,000 nights (+51.3 %) by business visitors.

Between January and September, 1.5 million registered bed nights (+16.7 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 444,000 (-27.0 %) for foreigners in Helsinki Metropolitan Area, in total 2.0 million (+2.7 %) registered nights.

Market share 18.3 percent

Total of 1.6 million registered bed nights (+29.2 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 1.4 million nights (+21.8 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 204,000 nights (+121.3 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Helsinki Metropolitan Area out of total registered bed nights was 18.3 % (+4.7 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 14.0 % and foreign bed nights 47.6 %.

157,000 tourists arrived to registered accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation increased 77 percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 72.5 percent were domestic, and 27.5 percent were from foreign countries.

During September, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Helsinki Metropolitan Area on average 1.7 nights (-0.12) and foreigners 2.3 nights (+0.01).

Registered January-September sales were 102.8 million euro and they decreased 15.5 million euro from the previous year.
