Registered bed nights increased 62 percent

In August 2022, 602,000 registered bed nights were recorded in Helsinki Metropolitan Area (+61.9 %), of which 317,000 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 285,000 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights increased 24 percent and registered foreign bed nights increased 146 percent. In total, registered bed nights increased 62 percent from last year's August.

363,000 nights (+59.3 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 239,000 nights (+66.1 %) by business visitors.

Between January and August, 2.1 million registered bed nights (+58.7 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 1.3 million (+267.0 %) for foreigners in Helsinki Metropolitan Area, in total 3.4 million (+102.2 %) registered nights.

Market share 25.9 percent

Total of 2.3 million registered bed nights (+13.2 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 1.8 million nights (-1.6 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 561,000 nights (+114.7 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Helsinki Metropolitan Area out of total registered bed nights was 25.9 % (+7.8 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 18.0 % and foreign bed nights 50.8 %.

334,000 tourists arrived to registered accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation increased 67 percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 57.2 percent were domestic, and 42.8 percent were from foreign countries.

During August, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Helsinki Metropolitan Area on average 1.7 nights (-0.08) and foreigners 2.0 nights (-0.19).

Registered accommodation sales in August were 43.3 million euro (+23.7 million).

Registered January-August sales were 231.2 million euro and they increased 147.0 million euro from the previous year.
