Helsinki Metropolitan Area: Tourism in a nutshell
Registered bed nights increased 12 percent
In June 2019, 594,000 bed nights were recorded in Helsinki Metropolitan Area (+11.6 %), of which 276,000 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 318,000 nights by foreigners. Domestic bed nights increased 19 percent and foreign bed nights increased six percent. In total, bed nights increased 12 percent from last year's June.
Most foreign bed nights were recorded for travelers from Germany (29,200 nights).
341,000 nights (+20.0 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 254,000 nights (+2.0 %) by business visitors.
Between January and June, 1.5 million bed nights (+10.4 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 1.3 million (+1.2 %) for foreigners in Helsinki Metropolitan Area, in total 2.8 million (+5.8 %) nights.
Registered bed nights statistics include stats for registered accommodations: hotels, motels, guest houses, hostels, holiday villages and campsites. Establishments with fewer than 20 beds or caravan lots with an electrical connection point are excluded.

346,000 tourists arrived to accommodation
Arrivals to registered accommodation increased nine percent compared to earlier year. Of all arrivals, 48.2 percent were domestic, and 51.8 percent were from foreign countries.
During June, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Helsinki Metropolitan Area on average 1.7 nights (+0.05) and foreigners 1.8 nights (+0.02).

Accommodation sales 48.1 million euro
Registered accommodation sales in June were 48.1 million euro (+7.3 million).
Registered January-June sales were 210.1 million euro and they increased 17.6 million euro from the previous year.
