Registered bed nights increased 183 percent

In May 2022, 484,000 registered bed nights were recorded in Helsinki Metropolitan Area (+182.9 %), of which 297,000 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 188,000 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights increased 119 percent and registered foreign bed nights increased 430 percent. In total, registered bed nights increased 183 percent from last year's May.

243,000 nights (+263.4 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 242,000 nights (+131.4 %) by business visitors.

Between January and May, 1.0 million registered bed nights (+110.8 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 554,000 (+341.1 %) for foreigners in Helsinki Metropolitan Area, in total 1.6 million (+157.4 %) registered nights.

Market share 31.3 percent

Total of 1.5 million registered bed nights (+82.1 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 1.2 million nights (+57.9 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 319,000 nights (+345.0 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Helsinki Metropolitan Area out of total registered bed nights was 31.3 % (+11.2 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 24.2 % and foreign bed nights 58.8 %.

272,000 tourists arrived to registered accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation increased 250 percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 67.9 percent were domestic, and 32.1 percent were from foreign countries.

During May, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Helsinki Metropolitan Area on average 1.6 nights (-0.4) and foreigners 2.1 nights (-1.4).

Registered accommodation sales in May were 38.7 million euro (+28.9 million).

Registered January-May sales were 111.3 million euro and they increased 77.7 million euro from the previous year.
