169,000 registered bed nights

In September 2020, 169,000 registered bed nights were recorded in Helsinki Metropolitan Area (-68.5 %), of which 137,000 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 32,100 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights decreased 43 percent and registered foreign bed nights decreased 89 percent. In total, registered bed nights decreased 69 percent from last year's September.

74,400 nights (-70.0 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 94,700 nights (-67.3 %) by business visitors.

Between January and September, 1.3 million registered bed nights (-44.6 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 608,000 (-74.3 %) for foreigners in Helsinki Metropolitan Area, in total 1.9 million (-59.5 %) registered nights.

Market share 13.7 percent

Total of 1.2 million registered bed nights (-32.1 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 1.1 million nights (-12.4 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 92,200 nights (-82.1 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Helsinki Metropolitan Area out of total registered bed nights was 13.7 % (-15.8 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 12.0 % and foreign bed nights 34.8 %.

88,700 tourists arrived to registered accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation decreased 72 percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 83.9 percent were domestic, and 16.1 percent were from foreign countries.

During September, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Helsinki Metropolitan Area on average 1.8 nights (+0.28) and foreigners 2.2 nights (+0.4).

Registered accommodation sales in September were 9.5 million euro (-42.1 million).

Registered January-September sales were 118.3 million euro and they decreased 226.0 million euro from the previous year.
