Registered bed nights increased two percent
In January 2019, 412,000 registered bed nights were recorded in Helsinki Metropolitan Area (+2.4 %), of which 216,000 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 196,000 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights increased nine percent and registered foreign bed nights decreased four percent. In total, registered bed nights increased two percent from last year's January.
197,000 nights (+5.0 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 215,000 nights (+0.1 %) by business visitors.
Registered bed nights statistics include stats for registered accommodations: hotels, motels, guest houses, hostels, holiday villages and campsites. Establishments with fewer than 20 beds or caravan lots with an electrical connection point are excluded.

Length of stay was 1.6 nights in registered accommodation
Length of stay in registered accommodation increased less than one percent compared to earlier year. In Helsinki Metropolitan Area, length of stay in January was on average 1.6 nights and in Finland 2.0 nights (+0.4 %).
During January, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Helsinki Metropolitan Area on average 1.5 nights and foreigners 1.8 nights .
250,000 tourists arrived to registered accommodation
Arrivals to registered accommodation increased two percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 56.3 percent were domestic, and 43.7 percent were from foreign countries.
During January, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Helsinki Metropolitan Area on average 1.5 nights (+0.05) and foreigners 1.8 nights (-0.03).
