Paid bed nights

Registered bed nights increased four percent

In February 2019, 401,000 registered bed nights were recorded in Helsinki Metropolitan Area (+3.8 %), of which 228,000 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 173,000 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights increased 10 percent and registered foreign bed nights decreased three percent. In total, registered bed nights increased four percent from last year's February.

198,000 nights (+13.8 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 203,000 nights (-4.3 %) by business visitors.

Between January and February, 443,000 registered bed nights (+9.5 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 370,000 (-3.7 %) for foreigners in Helsinki Metropolitan Area, in total 813,000 (+3.1 %) registered nights.

Market share 23.2 percent

Total of 1.7 million registered bed nights (+2.4 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 1.1 million nights (+3.3 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 604,000 nights (+0.8 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Helsinki Metropolitan Area out of total registered bed nights was 23.2 % (+0.3 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 20.2 % and foreign bed nights 28.7 %.

Length of stay was 1.6 nights in registered accommodation

Length of stay in registered accommodation decreased less than one percent compared to earlier year. In Helsinki Metropolitan Area, length of stay in February was on average 1.6 nights and in Finland 2.0 nights (-1.3 %).

During February, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Helsinki Metropolitan Area on average 1.5 nights (+2.8 %) and foreigners 1.7 nights (-2.1 %).

249,000 tourists arrived to registered accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation increased four percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 59.8 percent were domestic, and 40.2 percent were from foreign countries.

During February, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Helsinki Metropolitan Area on average 1.5 nights (+0.04) and foreigners 1.7 nights (-0.05).

Registered accommodation sales in February were 28.1 million euro (+1.7 million).

Registered January-February sales were 57.4 million euro and they increased 3.2 million euro from the previous year.
