45,700 registered bed nights

In April 2020, 45,700 registered bed nights were recorded in Helsinki Metropolitan Area (-89.5 %), of which 38,500 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 7,200 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights decreased 84 percent and registered foreign bed nights decreased 96 percent. In total, registered bed nights decreased 89 percent from last year's April.

11,800 nights (-94.6 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 34,000 nights (-84.5 %) by business visitors.

Between January and April, 649,000 registered bed nights (-29.6 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 458,000 (-39.2 %) for foreigners in Helsinki Metropolitan Area, in total 1.1 million (-33.9 %) registered nights.

Market share 24.1 percent

Total of 190,000 registered bed nights (-88.0 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 173,000 nights (-85.8 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 16,800 nights (-95.3 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Helsinki Metropolitan Area out of total registered bed nights was 24.1 % (-3.5 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 22.2 % and foreign bed nights 42.9 %.

11,900 tourists arrived to registered accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation decreased 95 percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 86.6 percent were domestic, and 13.4 percent were from foreign countries.

During April, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Helsinki Metropolitan Area on average 3.7 nights (+2.2) and foreigners 4.5 nights (+2.7).
