Paid bed nights

Registered bed nights increased 79 percent

In February 2022, 226,000 registered bed nights were recorded in Helsinki Metropolitan Area (+79.5 %), of which 154,000 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 72,200 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights increased 46 percent and registered foreign bed nights increased 250 percent. In total, registered bed nights increased 79 percent from last year's February.

Most foreign registered bed nights were recorded for travelers from Germany (7,300 nights).

116,000 nights (+93.8 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 110,000 nights (+66.5 %) by business visitors.

Between January and February, 264,000 registered bed nights (+33.1 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 137,000 (+217.5 %) for foreigners in Helsinki Metropolitan Area, in total 401,000 (+66.2 %) registered nights.

Market share 16.0 percent

Total of 1.4 million registered bed nights (+56.6 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 1.0 million nights (+22.0 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 384,000 nights (+555.1 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Helsinki Metropolitan Area out of total registered bed nights was 16.0 % (+2.0 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 14.9 % and foreign bed nights 18.8 %.

Length of stay was 1.8 nights in registered accommodation

Length of stay in registered accommodation decreased nine percent compared to earlier year. In Helsinki Metropolitan Area, length of stay in February was on average 1.8 nights and in Finland 2.2 nights (-0.0 %).

During February, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Helsinki Metropolitan Area on average 1.7 nights (-4.3 %) and foreigners 2.0 nights (-22.5 %).

129,000 tourists arrived to registered accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation increased 96 percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 71.5 percent were domestic, and 28.5 percent were from foreign countries.

During February, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Helsinki Metropolitan Area on average 1.7 nights (-0.14) and foreigners 2.0 nights (-0.8).

Registered accommodation sales in February were 13.9 million euro (+7.3 million).

Registered January-February sales were 24.5 million euro and they increased 11.8 million euro from the previous year.
