5.7 million bed nights in paid accommodation
Total of 5.7 million bed nights (+6.6 %) were recorded in paid accommodation in Helsinki in Jan–Dec 2019. This figure includes bed nights at registered establishments as well as at AirBnB and Vrbo. The share of registered bed nights was 78 % and non-registered 22 %.
Registered bed nights statistics include stats for registered accommodations: hotels, motels, guest houses, hostels, holiday villages and campsites. Establishments with fewer than 20 beds or caravan lots with an electrical connection point are excluded. Non-registered bed nights statistics include bed nights from AirBnB and Vrbo.
Registered bed nights increased eight percent
In Jan–Dec 2019, 4.5 million registered bed nights were recorded in Helsinki (+7.7 %), of which 2.1 million nights were spent by domestic visitors and 2.4 million nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights increased 12 percent and registered foreign bed nights increased four percent. In total, registered bed nights increased eight percent from last year's Jan–Dec.
2.4 million nights (+10.8 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 2.0 million nights (+4.2 %) by business visitors.

2.6 million tourists arrived to registered accommodation
Arrivals to registered accommodation increased six percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 51.3 percent were domestic, and 48.7 percent were from foreign countries.
During Jan–Dec, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Helsinki on average 1.6 nights (+0.06) and foreigners 1.9 nights (+0.01).
15.1 million air travelers
The airport received a total of 15.1 million passengers, which means air passenger arrivals increased seven percent. 4.2 million travelers were transferring planes (+12.8 %) and 10.9 million were local passengers (+4.9 %).
Of local passengers, 86.5 % arrived from abroad, thus the share of domestic passengers was 13.5 %. For transferring passengers, the share of travelers arriving from abroad was 85.4 %.
In addition, there were 6.8 million passengers departing the airport (+0.4 %), therefore the total number of trips via the airport was 21.9 million (+4.9 %).

6.4 million passengers by ferries
There were 6.4 million arriving passengers by ferries. In total, the arrivals to port increased two percent. The number of departing passengers was 6.4 million (+1.9 %). Most arrivals were from Estonia (4.5 million arrivals).

Accommodation sales 391.8 million euro
Total accommodation sales in Jan–Dec were 391.8 million euro (+44.3 million). The share of Airbnb and Vrbo was 10.0 percent. Therefore, registered accommodation sales were 352.6 million euro (+39.2 million) and non-registered sales 39.3 million euro (+5.0 million).

There were a total of 3.5 million user sessions at Helsinki marketing website in Jan–Dec. The share of visitors using a foreign language in their web browser was 50.1 percent out of all website visitors. The number of total user sessions increased 50 percent from last year's Jan–Dec.
