Registered bed nights increased one percent
In December 2019, 331,000 registered bed nights were recorded in Helsinki (+1.3 %), of which 151,000 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 181,000 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights increased five percent and registered foreign bed nights decreased one percent. In total, registered bed nights increased one percent from last year's December.
Most foreign registered bed nights were recorded for travelers from Russia (21,100 nights).
183,000 nights (+0.2 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 148,000 nights (+2.7 %) by business visitors.
Between January and December, 2.1 million registered bed nights (+11.8 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 2.4 million (+4.4 %) for foreigners in Helsinki, in total 4.5 million (+7.7 %) registered nights.
Registered bed nights statistics include stats for registered accommodations: hotels, motels, guest houses, hostels, holiday villages and campsites. Establishments with fewer than 20 beds or caravan lots with an electrical connection point are excluded.

Length of stay increased four percent in registered accommodation
Length of stay in registered accommodation increased four percent compared to earlier year. In Helsinki, length of stay in December was on average 1.7 nights and in Finland 2.0 nights (+1.9 %).
During December, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Helsinki on average 1.6 nights (+3.7 %) and foreigners 1.8 nights (+0.6 %).
192,000 tourists arrived to registered accommodation
Arrivals to registered accommodation decreased two percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 48.8 percent were domestic, and 51.2 percent were from foreign countries.
During December, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Helsinki on average 1.6 nights (+0.17) and foreigners 1.8 nights (-0.06).

84,100 international congress guests in 2019
The number of international congress quests increased 80 percent from the previous year.
There was a total of 400 congresses organized (+66) in 2019.
1.2 million air travelers
The airport received a total of 1.2 million passengers, which means air passenger arrivals increased five percent. 334,000 travelers were transferring planes (+13.2 %) and 837,000 were local passengers (+2.1 %).
Of local passengers, 82.7 % arrived from abroad, thus the share of domestic passengers was 17.3 %. For transferring passengers, the share of travelers arriving from abroad was 80.1 %.
In addition, there were 521,000 passengers departing the airport (-5.5 %), therefore the total number of trips via the airport was 1.7 million (+1.6 %).

450,000 passengers by ferries
There were 450,000 arriving passengers by ferries. In total, the arrivals to port decreased four percent. The number of departing passengers was 465,000 (-4.4 %). Most arrivals were from Estonia (357,000 arrivals).

Registered accommodation sales in December were 22.9 million euro (-1.8 million).
Registered January-December sales were 352.6 million euro and they increased 39.3 million euro from the previous year.
