Registered bed nights increased 48 percent
In January 2022, 107,000 registered bed nights were recorded in Helsinki (+47.7 %), of which 63,700 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 42,800 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights increased five percent and registered foreign bed nights increased 280 percent. In total, registered bed nights increased 48 percent from last year's January.
59,400 nights (+51.5 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 47,100 nights (+43.2 %) by business visitors.
Registered bed nights statistics include stats for registered accommodations: hotels, motels, guest houses, hostels, holiday villages and campsites. Establishments with fewer than 20 beds or caravan lots with an electrical connection point are excluded.

Length of stay increased five percent in registered accommodation
Length of stay in registered accommodation increased five percent compared to earlier year. In Helsinki, length of stay in January was on average 1.9 nights and in Finland 2.4 nights (+10.2 %).
During January, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Helsinki on average 1.8 nights and foreigners 2.0 nights .
56,900 tourists arrived to registered accommodation
Arrivals to registered accommodation increased 40 percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 63.1 percent were domestic, and 36.9 percent were from foreign countries.
During January, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Helsinki on average 1.8 nights (+0.07) and foreigners 2.0 nights (-0.22).

432,000 air travelers
The airport received a total of 432,000 passengers, which means air passenger arrivals increased 440 percent. 122,000 travelers were transferring planes (+924.0 %) and 310,000 were local passengers (+357.6 %).
Of local passengers, 78.5 % arrived from abroad, thus the share of domestic passengers was 21.5 %. For transferring passengers, the share of travelers arriving from abroad was 76.0 %.
In addition, there were 175,000 passengers departing the airport (+237.1 %), therefore the total number of trips via the airport was 606,000 (+361.5 %).

139,000 passengers by ferries
There were 139,000 arriving passengers by ferries. In total, the arrivals to port increased 43 percent. The number of departing passengers was 114,000 (+67.9 %). Most arrivals were from Estonia (123,000 arrivals).
